Halloween Party!

Our crew had a wonderful celebration this Halloween! The students enjoyed yummy treats, created their own jack-o-lantern, and played a fun game called “Witch Pitch.” The students had a blast! Thank you to Lindsey, Bridget, and Dianna for planning a great event! Also, thank you to the families who donated supplies and/or joined us this morning. This party would not have been a success without your support. Happy Halloween!

Mapping Felled Trees Fieldwork

Our crew has been working on reading and creating a map using a key, symbols, and compass rose. The students were able to put their mapping knowledge into action this morning as we visited Carson Nature Center. We identified Willow and Cottonwood trees chewed by beavers, and mapped our findings. We also interacted with a flood table. Interacting with the flood table helped us understand how important a dam is to a beaver's survival. We had a great day of learning, fun, and sunshine!

How do physical features help animals survive?

Today our art expert, Mrs Fisher, joined our crew to teach students how to create a technical drawing. Each child is in the process of creating a technical drawing of a beaver. The students will teach others about the physical features of a beaver, using this technical drawing, at the Celebration of Learning.  The students have created many drafts and received critique to help them produce high quality work. This task definitely takes perseverance and a growth mindset. We are so proud of our work!
